How to Set Lesson Access Dates
Updated onArticleWhat are Lesson Access Dates?
- Lesson Access Dates control when students have access to lesson content in SI Cloud.
- Access dates can be set with unique dates for each lesson, or with the same date for every lesson.
- Lessons do not require an access date; those with no set access date will be available as soon as students purchase a kit and complete the prerequisite lessons (Getting Started and Laboratory Safety).

Admin Functions
Updated onArticleThe Institution Admin role designates an individual as the Institution's Science Interactive Cloud administrator. Institution Admins should be an IT or Instructional Design expert. To maintain consistency each Institution should assign one person as the admin. Additionally, Institution Admins are unable to be assigned as Instructors for courses.
This role includes the following functions:
- User Functions
- Institution Functions
- Course Functions
In the absence of an Institution Admin, an Instructor can be designated as an Instructor Admin who will have the same Admin privileges as well as the ability to teach courses.

How does Science Interactive's tool work?
Updated onArticleSI's tool is a course-level external learning tool that provides students and instructors a single sign-on point from their LMS, some auto grading features, and grade pass-back.
The Launch URL, key, and secret are set at the institution level in our system and can be accessed by all instructors and institution admins with a sign-in credentials to SI Cloud. Each course and lesson hook are unique to instructors' courses to maintain grade pass-back capabilities and organization of class sections.
Each LMS and institution has different requirements for tool integration. If you have questions or require additional documentation contact your Regional Account Manager.

How to Download A Course Gradebook
Updated onArticleInstructors can download their course's gradebook in order to upload it to an LMS (though we recommend directly linking courses to the LMS your institution uses), to convert to a spreadsheet format for manual use, or simply to keep for the instructor's record. The gradebook will download as a .csv file.

My student’s microorganisms are not growing. Do they need to order replacements?
Updated onArticleIn most cases, the microorganisms are not growing due to the temperature in the incubation environment being too low. All cultures used in the lesson will grow at ambient temperatures between 21 oC and 25 oC (70 oF and 78 oF) within approximately 1 to 3 days of inoculation. Incubation temperatures lower than 20 oC (68 oF) will significantly increase the amount of time required for culture growth.
