Setting up Lesson Hooks in Blackboard

Updated Jun 03, 2020

Blackboard instructors can integrate the HOL Platform using LTI credentials from HOL Cloud. If you need help locating the LTI credentials please follow the steps in Finding the Course and Lesson Hooks article. Follow these instructions if your LMS/Course Administrator has not set the lesson placements. You will need to set one Web Link for each Course/Lesson Hook.

1. Select "Content" on the left side of the Blackboard menu.

3. Fill in the Name and URL, then select the check box to signify that you are connecting a tool provider.

4. Once the Tool Provider check box has been selected, the Key, Secret, and Custom Parameters will appear. Fill in each box with the information that has been provided.

Please read Which hook is best? to help you decide which Course or lesson hook you should use in your course.

If you are unsure of where to find the URL, Key, Secret, and Custom Parameters follow the link to Finding the Course and Lesson Hooks.

Custom Parameters include: Course Hooks, Master Course Hooks, and Master Lesson Hooks (lesson_hook=hol-mlesson).

If you are connecting a course hook select "No" on the Enable Evaluation radio buttons. If you are connecting using lesson hooks (lesson_hook=hol-mlesson) select "Yes" on the Enable Evaluation radio buttons. If you would like to see how the HOL Gradebook works please see How to use the HOL Cloud Gradebook.

5. Scroll down the page and ensure you include all appropriate details for your course.

6. Select "Submit" at the bottom of the page to save changes. You will be brought back to the Blackboard Content page.

7. Repeat for all lessons (lesson_hook=hol-mlesson) in the course.
